What are you Afraid of?

Having been a  personal trainer and health and fitness coach for several years now, I feel as if I have heard almost every excuse in the book when it comes to getting in shape.  scary1

Sure there are the typical excuses such as “I don’t have time”, “It is too much work”, “I can’t afford it.”  I am sure there are many trainers out there that can name many more excuses that people have used when it comes to fitness. For some reason exercising tends to bring out the worst excuses.

I think what it all boils down to is fear.

People are afraid of change.  People are so comfortable with how they are right now that they are unwilling and unmotivated to make the proper changes to their lifestyle that in long run will bring about HUGE positive results.  And people will resist change regardless of how bad their current situation is.  Instead of reaching their full potential, they will stay where they are because it is “comfortable” or “familiar.”

I’ve seen it hundreds of times in the clients I’ve trained and the people I’ve met.  Almost everyone has a reason or an excuse as to why they are not in the shape that they want to be.  But here is the thing…its the very change that people resist that will bring about the results that they want.

Fear is an imaginary thing that we create in our minds that creates walls that stop us from accomplishing our goals.

“I can’t get in shape!”: Not true! Everyone can get back into shape regardless of their current health

“I can’t give up that food!” Not true!  you CAN change your eating habits…you do the grocery shopping don’t you?

“I can’t afford it!” C’mon!  Regardless of what you earn, you don’t have to invest a lot to see BIG results.  Instead of saying you can’t, think about how you can.

It’s time to let your fear go and get in the shape that you want to be in.  Make a change and drop the fear.  Join a bootcamp. Eat better.

Little changes will yield GREAT results!
