If your looking to get in great shape for you upcoming vacation…then you need to check this out:
I think I have stumbled upon the key for your success in everything that you do!
I know it sounds crazy and sure there are lots of ways to become successful. You can be born into success if your family owned a profitable business, you can work long hours every day and scratch and claw your way to the top…the ways are endless.
There is one thing that I have found over and over again with successful people that I talk to everyday. I am blessed to have the opportunity to be in contact with successful people day in and day out because of the business and field that I am in.
Ok so here is the secret…you ready? You are who you associate with.
That’s it. If you think about who you spend most of your time with, then you can start to see the reason behind the way you look, the way you feel, your opinions, thoughts, actions and success. Who you spend your time around determines the level of success that you will reach.
Let’s say there are two people that want to be successful in business. The first person has a really great idea about a product or service that you want to start. They are so excited to get things going and off the ground and they really want to talk to or bounce ideas off someone. So of course who are you going to talk to first? Well, I’m guessing your close friends. They go to your friends and tell them all about this awesome idea. Now let’s say their friends work a normal 9-5 schedule as just an employee and just go to work, get paid, and leave. Do you think that their friend will give you the encouragement and knowledge they need to get their idea off the ground? NO! In fact, chances are if the friends you hang out with have the notion that working 9-5 is the only way to make money and they don’t think outside of the box, then they will be of no help and chances are…their idea with never flourish.
Now let’s say the second person also has a great idea. Unlike the first person who has a group of friends who are not a good resource, person two has realized that in order to become successful, he needs to spend time and learn from people who have done what he wants to do. So he spends his time mimicking their every more and advice, and after awhile these success habits rub off on him. Before you know it, that person has launched his idea and is on his way to a successful business.
Ok, maybe you don’t own a business or even want to start one. This success key can be applied to other aspects of your life, say for example, you want a better marriage. Do you think your marriage will be better if you spend time with friends who have marriages that are failing or are constantly bashing their other half? Or do you think if you spend time with couples who have successful marriage, will you learn and make your relationship better?
I remember when I first got into working out and wanting to get in better shape…I had no idea what to do! I used to be a really skinny kid and not very strong so for me, working out used to be a foreign language for me. Do you think I asked someone for help who was out of shape? Nope. I remember I would walk right up to the most in shape guy at the gym and ask him a question or two. Or I wouldn’t ask any questions and would just do EVERYTHING that the person was doing.
Why? Because I knew that
a.) I had no idea what I was doing, at all
and
b.) I knew that that guy obviously knew more than I did, so I figured if I did what he was doing, I would look the way he looked.
I also didn’t know the first thing about nutrition. When I was a little younger, I had a crazy metabolism so I could pretty much eat whatever I wanted, so eating healthy was never a big deal to me. But I knew that if I wanted to gain muscle and get stronger, I had to feed my body right. Do you think I asked for advice from the fat guy working behind the desk at GNC about what I
should eat? (you already know the answer)
You see, this is one of the secrets behind why TNT Bootcamp is so successful. At bootcamp, you have 10-20 people in a class who all have the same goal in mind….to get in great shape. If you are a new person coming in, you are going to be surrounded by people who spend 3-5 days a week at bootcamp working out. They know that the workouts are effective and have the results to prove it. I always see fellow members picking each other’s brains and giving each other tips on how they got results. And of course, you always workout out along side a personal trainer who has the knowledge to get you to where you want to be.
It doesn’t matter what program our studio offers, your going to get the support and be around the right group of people to get you there. And don’t be surprised if after awhile at my studio and spending time with me you become a little cooler…because as i said, you are who you associate with.

As I’m writing this blog post, it is about 103 Degrees out side (Today is July 22).
I don’t mind the heat too much, but wow it is hot. And believe it or not, it is almost too hot to exercise! So I thought it would be kind of a cool idea to take a break from my normal blog posts about exercise and fitness and write about something else….my favorite things!
Here are a few of my favorite things that make my life easier and more fun…and maybe if your not using these things or companies…then you can add them to your life and enjoy!
1. Anything Apple: Ok I know that some of you out there might be faithful PC people your whole life, and trust me I was too. Sure I had an IPod like everyone else, but when my PC finally frusterated me too much, I switched over to Apple and I will NEVER go back to anything else again!
The ease of use is incredible and everything is so simple with all of there products. I also love their image and how they never compare themselves to other companies, other companies compare themselves to Apple. That’s how a business should be run! Oh and check out there Apple TV, it’s pretty cool!
2. Bose Quiet Comfort Headphones: How many times have you been on a plane ride and all you can hear is the loud engine noise, screaming kids, and every possible annoying sound when all you want to do is sleep…especially when you have a long over night flight?!
Before I went on my trip to Brazil, I made sure to purchase these bad boys…and wow I’m glad I did! When you have these headphones on, you hear nothing…but the music your listening too. And you can even use them as just ear muffs to cancel out sound. Sure they are pricey at $299 but when you get off the plane in the morning refreshed after a quiet plane ride, you’ll be glad you got them.
3. Anything Bose: I just told you about how great there headphones are…but ALL of their products are amazing. This is a company that goes above and beyond top quality to deliver the best sound around. While other companies measure sound based on watts, Bose does not (thinking outside the box). I cannot tell you how many times I have heard a song on a normal speaker and then listened to it on a Bose speaker, the difference is unbelievable! From their IPod docks, to their surround sound, this Framingham based company gets it.
4. Dyson: Here is another cool company that has taken ordinary household tools and made them better. While most people wouldn’t give a second thought to vacuums or fans, Dyson has completely reinvented the products. There vacuums are unbelievably reliable and work better than any other out there. They took an ordinary table fan and turned it into a fan that doesn’t give out choppy air, just smooth flowing air. Oh and the fan looks like a work of art too. When your at the airport next time or even some restaurants, be on the lookout for their hand dryers. You don’t have to touch them and they keep your hands dry and germ free….pretty cool stuff.
5. Skype: This is a product that still boggles my mind. Back in the day (before computers and cell phones took over the world), if you wanted to talk to someone far away in another state, you had to talk on the phone with expensive phone plans and calling cards with dismal call quality.
Now not only can you talk to someone not just from another state, but another country! And not only can you talk to that person who is in another country, you can SEE them when you talk to them! AND not only can you talk to a person in another country and see them when you are talking to them, but you can do it for FREE! If you aren’t amazed by that, then shame on you!
So if your in a long distance relationship with someone who say, lives in Brazil, then you can thank Skype for making that person seem much closer.
6. A notepad: Although this product is not sophisticated in any way and has been around forever, for only a couple bucks you can have for yourself a product that can literally make you thousands of dollars, reshape your life, and get you to where you want to be in life.
I get asked all the time what the secret to being successful is and to me I think there are many things that go into that, but one of the most important things I ever did was make lists on a notepad. Where did the idea for my bootcamp start? On a notepad. Where did my goals for the year (which I’ve nearly accomplished all of them already) start? On a notepad. Where do all of my personal and relationship goals start. On a notepad. I am a firm believer that if you don’t plan it out and make it concrete in writing, chances are you will never get around to it. So go out and get a notepad…even if you don’t have a business, you can always make a list of your daily activities and you’ll be amazed how organized, less stressed, and how much more time you’ll have!
7. Pandora: One of my favorite sites to visit because all you have to do it type in an artist you like, and it creates a playlist for free! One of my favorite things to do when I’m working or writing on my notepad, is to listen to my Bob Marley playlist and just get in the zone! It’s a great way to learn about new music and also find the music to match your mood or help to motivate you with the task your doing!
8. Reebok: Here is a company that has risen from the dead. Just a few years ago when you were talking about sneakers or footwear, Reebok was a very distant third or even fourth! Now with the introduction of their ZigTech line, they have propelled themselves to the forefront, almost like Apple did when they launched the iPod. The Zigs are by far my favorite shoes to workout in, and they go against everything that a “normal sneaker” looks like. Very cool!
9. TNT Bootcamp: I’m sure you knew this was coming! Although my bootcamp isn’t a huge company or a household name throughout the whole country (not yet at least) I KNOW that my bootcamp is by far the best of the best. I know this because I’ve seen many bootcamps, trainers, facilities and locations and to be honest…they don’t stack up! With TNT Bootcamp, you never have to worry about coming in and having a “bad” or “easy” workout. You never have to worry about equipment being broken. You never have to worry about whether or not your trainer knows what they are doing. You never have to worry about your trainer not being on the cutting edge. You never have to worry about any of these things and you know why? Because you shouldn’t have to!
Hey!
I hope you are having an awesome day. I had some time to reflect on some things over the past few weeks and I still cannot get over how truly blessed I am as a person. In one of my previous posts I talked all about why I am happy and enjoy life and how you can to. If you want to check out that post you can find it here.
But today I want to focus on you and why I am so thankful for having such awesome personal training clients, bootcampers, and friends in the industry. It is because of you that I enjoy being in the field of fitness and that I enjoy going to work every day. I mean how many people really can say that when they go to work they get to enjoy awesome people, joke around, workout and build not just our bodies..but friendships too?! Not too many!
I am so thankful for people who are motivated and don’t make excuses. Sure my bootcamp is difficult and takes a lot of dedication to stick to it, but I am amazed how many people I have that have that dedication, and more! These people don’t make excuses for themselves and had a goal in mind and accomplished it.
Take for example my bootcamper Rob. If you come to bootcamp, then you know exactly who he is. He is the guy when he first started working out at my bootcamp, he could barely finish a workout. The first few weeks were very tough for him…in fact, I think most people would probably have given up and stopped all together. But Rob is a different breed and pushed through the hard times because he knew that if he could get through the beginning, he could make it to the end goal. And he did, just ask him.
starches. My belt is on it’s last hole and pretty soon I’ll need to start shopping for some new clothes. I feel stronger, leaner, and looking good without my beer gut. Thanks so much for introducing me to a great program, it’s made a huge difference in my life and in my health.”
of course when I first asked that question, you already in your mind assumed that I mean that you were sitting on a chair. Well what if there was no chair but you were still sitting down against the wall. How long do you think you could stay seated? Well one of my awesome clients, Melissa, decided to find out. Hey!
Well after much anticipation…the bootcamp olympics are here! I thought it would be best to post the rules and events on my blog so that you can check it see which ones you want to participate in.
Ok so here is the deal…
*The olympics will start this Saturday, May 14th. The Olympics will take place on the Saturday and Wednesday Evening class for 2 weeks. Instead of the normal bootcamp classes, the Olympics will take place during that time from 7:30am-10am and the 6-6:50pm class.

Hey!
Just a quick thought before I get into my awesome blog post on 7 things that exercise will make you better at. I was recently at the gym I belong to (I won’t mention any names…) and although I try not to, I can’t help but notice the other trainers there and what they do with their clients. I also notice when the management adds new equipment or makes changes to the gym.
I’d say over the last two to three months at that particular gym, the biggest and newest crazy is the TRX. If you don’t know what a TRX is, it’s a pretty cool piece of equipment that uses mainly your own body weight as resistance. Now if you’ve been a client of mine then you know that I’ve been using the TRX for close to three years now, if not longer. Well the gym I belong to must be the last in line to learn about the TRX because the trainers there are just now using it with their clients and the gym is just now incorporating it into their arsenal.
Just thought it was cool how ahead of the curve our bootcamp continues to be!
Ok so back to business….
I was thinking about how I could possible narrow down my list to only 7 things that exercising will make you better at. It may seem like an easy thing to do, but it’s not! To be honest, I could probably name 1000 things that exercising will make you better at off the top of my head, but that would be quite a long post! So instead of naming all the things, here are 7 things that you’ll be guaranteed to be better at just be exercising on a regular basis. Some of these things are pretty obvious, but some of the things are certainly not.
1.) Breathing: So we all know that breathing is a requirement if we want to stay on this Earth. If we stop breathing, even if it is
just for 5 or 10 minutes, chances are we won’t be alive. So it would probably make sense if we make sure that we are the best breathers that we can possible be right? And how do we do this? Well, through exercise! Have you ever been on a long run or did a tough total body workout where you felt like you were giving 110%? And although during the workout you probably felt like maybe you were going to die, immediately afterward you can breathe better? It’s almost as if you can breathe easier and more efficiently. By expanding our oxygen intake and “working out” our lungs, we are able to breathe better and become less winded. Now when you do simple stuff like walk up the stairs, your breathing remains normal unlike before when your breathing probably became elevated.
2. Being Happy: Along the same lines with breathing after a hard workout, do you ever feel happier and in a better mood after a hard workout? Of course you have! When you workout at a relatively high intensity level, your body releases endorphins which are the chemical that gives you a feeling of happiness. Runners refer to it as a “runner’s high.” Exercise has also be proven again and again to reduce or in some cases, eliminate depression.
3. Sex: This is probably one of the least talked about benefits of exercise because people and trainers are too shy to talk about it. In no way am I trying to sound dirty, but when you exercise you increase your endurance and stamina during sex. Think about it, when you exercise on a consistent basis, your are happier because your endorphins are high, your look better and are more attractive to your partner because your in better shape, the flow of blood is increased and improved in your body and you have better endurance and can breathe better. All of these things will help you out! Let’s face it…we live in a country where the vast majority of people are overweight. And we also live in a country where that little blue pill is a household name…don’t you think that is quite the coincidence? Instead of relying on pills…exercise is the all natural way to make things better for you!
4. Athletics: Ok so when I say the word athletics, you probably things of organized sports such as basketball or baseball. And maybe your thinking “ok Robby I don’t play sports so why are you bothering to tell me about this?” Well athletics do refer to organized sports, but I think they also apply to movement and things you do in everyday life. For example…when you look at senior citizens in a nursing home, sure there some that are there because they are sick, but there are lots and lots of them that are forced to live in the nursing home for one reason only…they lost their ability to move. Sure athletics can be a sports, but it can also be as simple of a move as getting in and out of a chair or picking something up from the ground and placing it overhead on a shelf. Your ability to perform everyday tasks better and more efficiently through the use of exercise is what is going to keep you living independently for a long time and decrease the chance of being injured. This is why you see people with chronic back and knee pain see relief as soon as they start to exercise and strengthen the muscles that were weak.
5. Skin: Ok so when someone tells you to “sweat it out”…what does that mean? Well when it comes to working out, sweating is an awesome thing and very very good for your skin. When you sweat, essentially you are pushing out all the toxins and things that are not supposed to be in your body. That’s why if you workout after a night of drinking, you smell like booze! By sweating consistently, you are helping the body to rid itself of these toxins allowing for the skin to heal and rejuvenate. That is why after
you finish a workout, someone might say to you “wow you have a glow about you today!”
6. Life: This one is sooo obvious! When you workout, you are literally improving every single aspect of your life. Your going to feel better about yourself so you are going to be more outgoing and have more friends. You are going to have more energy so you’ll be able to get more done at work and get more productive, which will probably lead to some sort of raise. Your going to look better and the opposite sex is going to like you more and your love life will improve. Everything from your personal to professional life will improve simply because you made the conscious decision to exercise and workout either at a local gym, or even my bootcamp. When you workout, you are investing in yourself and making yourself that much better of a person…and that is pretty cool right?
P.S Now that summer is almost here, don’t you think now would be the perfect time to get in shape? With a little over a month left till official summer, come try out my bootcamp free for a week…totally on me
Happy Monday!
I was recently talking to a few of my trainer friends in the industry and we were talking about business and workouts, etc. One thing that stuck out to me in the conversation however was the fact that every trainer either has or had a client who has all the intentions of getting results but never got them.
As a trainer and fitness enthusiast myself, this is one thing that has always eaten away at me….having a client who doesn’t see results. I know that working out and doing the right things WILL always get you results. So it’s very frustrating to see someone that doesn’t get results because most often than not, that person will believe that exercise works for other people, just not them.
First and foremost, get rid of the excuses. Saying your too busy or don’t have enough time is never a good enough excuse when it comes to anything in life. I’ve found that the people who SAY they are really busy or don’t have enough time have plenty of time. Have you ever tried to hang out with someone who keeps dodging you because they “don’t have time” or “they are too busy?” Do you think they really are or they just don’t have enough interest in seeing you. I’m busy, everyone’s busy…that excuse is no good.
Blaming other people is also going to get you nowhere. It’s nobody else fault that you aren’t where you want to be. Who you are today is in direct relation to the decisions you made in life. Another excuse busted.
Check out this great clip from the last Rocky movie that tells you all about excuses and blaming other people:
So here is the biggest mistake I see people make when they start off on the journey to get in shape….they don’t have a plan.
Have you ever heard the saying, “Fail to plan, plan to fail?” Well of course you have and you know what? It’s true! Why do you think businesses have a business plan? Or why when you buy that big present for your children on Christmas it comes with plans? The reason being….if you don’t have a plan, you will have a very difficult time getting to your goal, if you ever do. Plans are what get you to where you want to be. If you want to get in shape, plan it out! Why do so many people join the gym and say “I want to get in shape,” then in just a few months (if that) they don’t even workout anymore and give up? It’s because they had a goal, but didn’t have a plan!
I can tell you 100% that if you are not achieving your goal, then your plan is not in line with it. If you want to look like a bodybuilder, then you need to eat and workout like a bodybuilder. If you want to buy a Ferrari, then you need to have the means
and take the steps needed to buy a Ferrari. I hate to break it to you, but unfortunately you can’t buy a Ferrari for the same price as a Ford.
So what is your goal? If you want to lose 20lbs, then your actions and eating habits need to reflect that goal. If you want to get down to 10% body fat or be able to do 10 pullups, or heck even run a marathon…then your actions and habits need to reflect that. You will never get to those goals by doing the bare minimum.
If you have a goal, put together a plan, ask your trainer and take action and do it!
Hey!
I hope you are having an awesome day! As I’m writing this the weather is in the 60′s, the sun is out and the birds are chirping outside. It is so nice to know that winter might actually be behind us for good! So last post I told you a little bit more about myself and maybe told you some things that you might not have known about me. Well today I’m going to answer a question that I get ALL the time. And that question is….
Robby, why are you always SO happy?
This is actually a tough and easy question to answer at the same time. It’s tough because to be honest, I’ve almost always been
this way except for a few periods in my life. And because of this I usually think to myself “why wouldn’t someone be happy all the time?” I mean how cool is life? I mean sure there are ups and downs but overall life is such an awesome thing!
This question is also easy for me to answer because at this point in my life I’m doing what I love…I have an awesome career where I am able to make a difference in A LOT of people’s lives. I have been so blessed with some of the coolest clients anyone could ever ask for and there isn’t a day when I don’t look forward to seeing them and working out with them. I get to work for myself and make my own decisions in life and have lots of freedom and time to do what I want. While most of my friends are sitting behind a desk during the day, you can find me either at the gym working out or when the weathers nice, I’m out on the golf course. How could I not be happy?
I don’t mean to write this to try to impress you or to sound conceited…that is certainly not my goal with this post. My point is to show you what I’ve done to be happy and successful so that you can maybe use some of these tips to make YOUR life happier and more successful! Sure maybe you don’t want to own your own business or makes lots of money or whatever….but you can still make little changes that will go a long way towards making you a happier more successful person, in everything you do. So be sure to read this post and take ACTION in your life!
1. Exercise: Big surprise that this would be first on my list right? Well I didn’t put it first on my list because I’m a personal
trainer….but because it is SO important. If there is one thing that should be a top priority in your life, it should be your health. Working out and exercising is so beneficial in so many ways and not matter what your situation is, exercise WILL improve it. I know that by exercising, I literally changed the path of my life and transformed the person that I was into the confident person that I am today. If your one of my awesome bootcamp members, then you know how great it feels to exercise and the huge difference it makes. It’s a MUST to be happy.
2. Resistance is GOOD: One thing that I learned in life is that anytime I come up against some sort of resistance, I have two choices. I can give up and let the situation or circumstance get the best of me, or I can push through the resistance and come out stronger on the other side. When your working out, how to you get stronger and more fit? You increase the resistance! The more the resistance (say I made you do 25 burpees) the greater your fitness level becomes! Then when you look back a few months from now, those 25 burpees that may at one time seemed impossible to get past…are nothing! The same holds true in life…if something is coming up against you, push through it! When you come out on the other side, your going to be stronger and more successful and your going to laugh at yourself for thinking you couldn’t get through it.
3. Do something that scares you: Ok this may sound a little crazy…but it’s a great way to grow as a person and become happy! Is there something that scares you or your fearful of? For me there were a few things…the first thing being talking in front of a large group of people. I HATED it, could not, would not do it. I would shy away from talking to groups of people.
Finally, I knew if I wanted to Improve and be successful, I HAD to do it. So guess what? I did! Sure it was awful at first and I thought I might possible die or faint, but I pushed through it and made myself do it. Now I can honestly say that talking in front of people is nothing anymore, in fact…I enjoy it! If you let fear get in your way, you will never reach your full potential.
Remember….fear is False Evidence Appearing Real.
4. Get out of your comfort zone: This one goes along the same lines as doing something that scares you. I remember a few
years back I planned a trip to Argentina. It may seem like a normal thing at first to plan a trip. But I was going on this trip alone by myself. Oh and did I mention that this was the first time I had ever flown? Certainly out of my comfort zone but I can tell you that I am glad I did it. It’s human nature to resist change. We tend to get in a habit of doing something and it takes time and effort in order to break that habit. Why do you think I constantly change up workouts on my clients…because change is good! Instead of letting yourself get used to something, do something else! If you’ve thought about sky diving…do it! Or if you’ve thought about wanting to pick up a new habit, do it! Just get out of the norm!
5. Invest in Yourself: This is a BIG key to my success and happiness. All too often we spend money on things that are pointless and don’t have a good ROI (return on investment). For example our cable bill. Sure we get hundreds of awesome channels in High Definition, (I mean watching a cooking show in high definition is obviously a top priority) but how is that improving ourselves?
If I have a certain goal in mind, say I want to make more money or I want to learn how to improve my golf game…I invest in products that show me how to do it. If you want to have a better marriage, invest in books and things that show you how to have a better marriage. This applies with everything. Recently I wanted to get ready for my trip to Brazil this summer, so I figured that if I’m going to have a more enjoyable time, I should probably know Portuguese. So what did I do? I invested in a Rosetta Stone course and now I’m learning Brazilian Portuguese. Sure things like this cost money, but by investing in yourself, your going to be a happier person and become successful because your always learning and always improving.
6. Stay In Motion: I think it was Sir Issac Newton that once said “an object in motion tends to stay in motion.” This is such a true statement. If you have a goal in mind and want to get to it, do something! Sure it may just be a little step at a time, but eventually your going to reach your goal. What’s the best way to lose 50lbs? Well start at losing 1 lb first because you can’t lose 50 until you lose 1lb, then 2lb and so on and so on. If you have a goal and aren’t sure exactly how to get there…just do something and you’ll be building momentum and things will start to fall in place. When I started my bootcamp business….I didn’t know the first thing about running a bootcamp, but I knew I wanted to do it. So what did I do? I went to several facilities asking to start a bootcamp. When they asked if I knew how to run one..I said “yes.” Once I found a location, I started to advertise. Did I know how to advertise? No. But I did what I knew and kept the momentum. Now I run one of the largest most successful bootcamps in the area and why? Because I stayed in motion.
7. The 90/10 Rule: Bedros Keuilian, one of my business mentors, has always talked about the 90/10 rule and I even think it may have changed to the 95/5 rule. Essentially when it comes to running a business…spend 90% of your time ON your business and 10% In your business. What this means is that 90% of your time should be focused on things that will grow your business and 10% of your time doing things that maintain your business because most often than not, tasks that maintain your business can be outsourced. Why is it that I don’t do my own accounting and hire an accountant? The reason is that if I spend time doing my own books, then that is taking time away from doing things that make money and grow my business. Why stress about doing things I hate such as accounting or building websites or sending out letters when I could be doing things I love like networking or writing articles or coming up with new marketing ideas.
You might say “cool Robby, but I don’t own a business.” Well you can apply the same rule to your own life with whatever you want. For example use the 90/10 rule with your kids. If you want to spend more time with your kids spend 90% of your time on things that will get you closer to your kids and 10% on things that won’t. If cleaning your house is taking up too much time and that’s taking you away from spending more time with your children then outsource and hire a cleaner. Sure it costs a little bit of money…but remember Time IS Money! And I’m sure you’ll probably find that when you apply this rule to your life, your going to find that you actually have more money and more time and your more happy. Outsource what you don’t like to do and invest in what you do like to do. Pretty Simple.
8. Say no to time vampires: This is another tip that is going to save you so much time and effort in your life. What are you doing in life that just simple wastes time and gets nothing done? In other words, what is literally sucking time away from your
day? For me it was emailing and making phone calls. I run a pretty successful business (at least I think so) and I am constantly getting emails from clients and phone calls from potential clients, etc. When I first started my business, the moment a email came in, I’d answer it. If my phone rang, I’d drop everything I was doing and answer it.
Do you know how much time this wastes?!?!?
Let me tell you, tons! So I decided to make a change and try something. Now I only check my email once a day, usually at night or first thing in the morning. The rest of the day unless it is an emergency or I’m literally doing nothing else, I don’t answer until my designated time. The same goes with phone calls. I’ve found that if someone has something important to ask or talk about, they will leave a message. If they don’t leave a message, it probably wasn’t important enough for me to drop what I was doing and answer. At first when I tried this I thought that I was going to cripple my business, but guess what? My business hasn’t gone down, in fact it’s picked up. People know that I will answer them eventually, just on my time. I now have more time than ever and I’m less stressed because I don’t feel I have to be consistently “plugged in.” Try this with your life and see how big of a difference it will make for you.
9. Think Positive: Have you ever been around someone who is constantly negative? I know I have and it sucks! I always feel when I’m around a negative person that after talking to them, I feel depressed and down in the dumps! Or how about the person who constantly says “I feel like I’m getting sick, I feel like I’m getting sick?” And of course what happens? They get sick! If you want to be a happy person and be successful in whatever it is you want to do in life, you need to be positive! Remember if you don’t think you can do something, you won’t be able to! If you think you can do something or accomplish a goal, chances are if you actually believe in yourself, you’ll accomplish it. It seems that most people need a “check up from the neck up.” Essentially change your thought process and make a conscious decision to only associate in conversations and habits that will help to keep you positive and moving forward. More often than not, negative thinking and gossip will either keep you idle or send you a few steps back, for no reason!
10. Listen to Bob Marley: I mean c’mon, after listening to songs by Bob Marley how could you not feel relaxed and happier! If I’m stressed about something or I’m having a rare bad day, I just put on some Bob Marley and I feel much better.
11. Take a Risk: I remember when I first told my dad that I wanted to start my own business…he thought I was a little crazy. See, I already had a good landscaping job while I was in college. But I knew that I wanted to make more of myself. I didn’t know much about business but I knew that it’s what I wanted to do. So I put my neck out on the line and accomplished my goal. I have always took risks on a consistent basis because that is one of the best ways to grow. When I opened my studio back in November it was a risk. I had to find a location fast and had only two weeks to get it up and running because if I didn’t then I wouldn’t be able to pay my bills and maintain the way I was living. Sure I could have just packed it up and given up, but I decided to take a risk because I believed in myself and what I wanted to get done. And now look at where I am in just 6 months, with my bootcamp more than twice the size it was when I first started.
The same holds true with you. Maybe you have a goal in mind or what to get something done and it seems risky. Just remember that the most successful people in life took a chance on themselves at one point because they knew that they wanted to do it and needed to do it. The key to remember is to be 110% in and don’t look back. Chances are when you take a calculated risk and just jump in you’ll come out on the other side happier and more successful than ever.
12. Do something that makes you happy: One thing that has always been important to me is a nice car. I have always been a big car guy and to me having a nice car makes me happy and brings joy to me. I am always driving for me having something that I enjoy driving is important and keeps me happy! Maybe it’s not a car for you, maybe it’s a new dress. If that new dress makes you feel awesome and happy, then get it! Or maybe it is getting a haircut or buying a new pair of socks…the point is to spoil yourself once in a while and get something you like not because it’s something you need, it’s something you want. If getting that one things makes your day better and more enjoyable, than I’m all for it.
I have been so blessed to be in such a great position in life at such a young age. Sure I have had some great breaks in life but overall, I have a great life because I took action and made the life I want. Nothing was handed to me and I didn’t wait around for it to happen, I am constantly making it happen. No matter what it is that you want in life, whether it is success or happiness or both, you gotta take action and get after what it is you want. When you work hard at something, you’ll get it…and then you’ll be happy, I promise!
Have you ever heard someone or maybe even know someone that puts the blame on everything and anything but themselves? I’ve experienced this myself countless times in my young life. If someone has an issue or a problem they blame it on everyone else…this drives me crazy! What happened to people being accountable for their own actions?
Sure I could get into political as well as other arenas of discussion, but being a personal trainer I’m going to focus on fitness. So here we go..
We all know (or at least you should know) that exercise and good nutrition will give you results in a positive way! I’ve said time and time again that if you join my bootcamp and eat according to the meal plans and guidelines that I give you, there is no way you cannot get results!
However, even with the countless success stories…I hear the same excuses from people
1.) I don’t have time
2.) I’m eating good but I’m not seeing results
3.) It’s too hard
4.) I’m not athletic
Blah Blah Blah!
Take a look at what my client Rob decided to do with his health and fitness. When Rob first contacted me a few months back, he was out of shape and looking for a change. Honestly and truly, I believe he was FED UP with the way he looked and felt and this drove his desire to finally DO something about it.
This is what Rob used to look like:
When you get to the point where your tired of your clothes not fitting good or looking and the mirror and knowing that you can be in better shape..you have two options. The first option is to think of all the excuses about how you can get in shape. You can think that it is inconvenient and won’t fit into your schedule, or maybe how you don’t have time and think your too far gone to start exercising again.
Rob didn’t think any of those things. All he did was make the call to join my bootcamp. He took the initiative and knew that even it was tough, he’d do it anyways.
After a few months of DOING and going to bootcamp religiously and eating sensibly, he’s seen great results…to the tune of 27lbs!
Take a look at how much of a difference just a few months of dedication and being excuse free can do:
Just hear what Rob had to say:
Robby,
Here’s my contribution to TNT Bootcamp fan club.
It’s just shy of four months since I started TNT Bootcamp and here’s what it’s done for me…
I had my annual physical today and instead of the the usual chastising by my doctor I got some excellent news. My formerly high blood pressure (150/110 on average) is now looking very normal at 117/81 and that’s without any medication which was a key goal for me. Since my last visit, I’ve lost 27lbs and I didn’t start losing any weight until I started bootcamp. When I signed up for Bootcamp, my goal was to get healthy and back in shape. That included exercise and a better diet but I didn’t want to diet. Bootcamp has given me the power to get in shape, lose weight, and do it all without a “deny everything” diet. I eat smarter (more chicken, fish and vegetables) and watch the sweets and starches.
The BP reduction and the weight loss were key goals and now I am down over a pant size and maybe two. My belt is on it’s last hole and pretty soon I’ll need to start shopping for some new clothes. I feel stronger, leaner, am looking good without the beer gut. I’ve got about 20 lbs more to go and I’m on track to finish that in time for summer.
Thanks for introducing me to a great program. It’s made a huge difference in my life and my health.
Thanks,
Rob
