You know your a TNT Bootcamper when…

Over the last year and a half since I started TNT Bootcamp, I couldn’t help but notice the strangest thing when people come into my bootcamp class for the first time.  They may have never worked out before but all of a sudden something inside of them changes and now all they want to do is workout.  This is a condition which only occurs when your a TNT Bootcamper.

How can you be sure that your a TNT Bootcamp? Well here are some tell tale signs….

1. You enter the bootcamp studio nice and dry and when you leave your soaked in sweat.

2. The song “Row Row Row Your Boat” suddenly has meaning to you.

3. When your driving in your car and a song comes on the radio you yell out “That’s a Bootcamp song!”

4. You know what a burpee is and your not scared of it.

5. When your outside shoveling snow or raking leaves, you work really hard for 45 seconds and then you rest for 10-15 seconds.

6. At the beginning of the week when your planning your schedule out, you plan everything around the bootcamp class schedule.

7. You realize that you can climb a mountain without actually climbing a mountain.

8. When you hear the words “Air Squat” you either smile or you flinch.

9. You actually look forward to working out.

10. The amount of friends you have has suddenly increased.

11.  When Robby sends out a workout for you to do via email, you actually do it.

12. You actually look forward to shopping for clothes now.

13.  When your driving and you see orange cones in the road, you pause and think that might be a bootcamp station.

14. You can now do an actual pushup…and another, and another, and another.

15. After looking at yourself in the mirror, instead of frowning, you have a big grin on your face.

16. You know that when Robby demonstrates an exercise and it looks easy when he does it, it actually isn’t easy.

17. You actually know how much fun 20 minutes can be.

18. When someone is telling you they spend 2 hours working out at the gym, you laugh to yourself because you know that you accomplished more in 45 minutes than they did in 2 hours.

19. If someone tells you that they pay their personal trainer $100/hr to workout, you literally burst out laughing because you know that you get a whole MONTH of bootcamp for the price of that 1 hour.

20. You know that there are 20+ ways to do a pushup

21. You know that there are 20+ ways to do a squat

22. Doing 30-60 minutes on the elliptical or treadmill disgusts you now.

23. Losing 15lbs wasn’t so bad after all

24. You can actually call yourself an athlete now.

25.  Doing a pullup is no longer out of reach.

26. After years or doing nothing, you now realize what you’ve been missing out on.

27. You’ve gotten more results in 1 month than you have in the last year at the gym.

28. You know a person is new to bootcamp when they don’t know what a burpee is

29.  You actually look forward to stretching :)

If you are tired of seeing little to no results at the gym then why not do something about it? Right now I have a special 6 week trial membership to my bootcamp. Get access to every class for 6 weeks for only $249.  If you are serious about getting in shape, then you need to check it out.  Click on the link below and get started on your results!

WOW!

Things have been absolutely crazy here at my new studio location.  With over 200 new people trying out my bootcamp this month, things have been busy.  But I’m loving every minute of it!

I received a letter a few weeks ago from one of my bootcampers and what he wrote meant a lot to me. I wanted to share this with you because if you are a person who has been debating whether to join my bootcamp, this letter should push you in the right direction.

Robby,

I just wanted to drop you a note to say, thanks for your help with my fitness goals. Your Bootcamp has been great. I can definitely see and feel the results.  As someone who considered himself relatively athletic, but hasnt really done any significant exercise in the last 15 years (at least), I would highly recommend it to any one of any fitness level.  Just like you said, the first day was the hardest and for me the first couple of weeks had plenty of muscle pain. But, also as you predicted, the pain went away. Now I look forward to getting to Bootcamp and the challenges you have planned.

Some of what I like about your Bootcamp is:

1. I don’t have to think: I know when I get there the exercises are all thought out for me.  All I have to do is get myself there. I can’t tell you how many times in the past I have attempted to workout in a gym and in reality I don’t have a plan when I get there.  Then it’s like “well I guess I’ll ride the bike to start then do some other exercises”. Two hours later I finish but half the time I was wandering around deciding what to do next or waiting for a machine.

2. It’s Fast: In about 45 minutes I get the best workout I have ever had and I am walking out to my car again.  Not only do I not have to think, I don’t have time to think about how hard the next exercise is going to be, or to talk myself out of it and make my way to a “favorite” machine.  This is particularly true for me with the ab exercises. There are so easy to skip on your own, because they are hard.

3. Coaching and Encouragement: Not psychotic-in-your-face yelling, but positive feedback when appropriate and equally appropriate reminders when you think I am dogging it.  In addition, making sure I have good form to prevent injury, out on my own, I always had a nagging suspicion I wasn’t doing certain exercises correctly which would have been a complete waste of time and possibly even doing more damage than good.

4. Variety: After 7 months of attending TNT Bootcamp, I have not had the same exact workout routine twice.  That’s amazing. You have some favorites for sure, but doing the same thing over and over again is boring. Not your bootcamp.

5. Simplicity: The exercise is not complicated, but tough. From jump rope to walking lunges to mountain climbers to burpees, you look at each one on it’s own and it certainly not overly intimidating, but when you put them all together, wow.  All the exercises are explained before we start, including proper form and what areas should be benefiting.

6. Low Key Environment: There is a great group of friendly people focusing on their own goals. Everyone starting an exercise routine after a long time without exercising is a little self conscious. Let’s face it, one can be a little self conscious of how bad you look struggling with some of these exercises. But what I realize is I’m not competing against the other folks, I am competing with myself, just trying hard to get better at all the exercises. I also soon realized the workouts move so quick from exercise to exercise, that no one is paying attention to anyone else. The reality is the “struggle” never stops because as you progress, you’re able to do more which is a different kind of struggle. The cycle never stops…that’s a good thing.

7. The nutritional tips: very informative, I am learning a lot of practical stuff. In addition, I am very comfortable asking you for clarification on issues I either don’t understand or don’t have the desire or time to research. you explain in easy to understand language.

That’s about half of it! It has be fun so far and a tremendous value. Thanks for suggesting that I come down to “observe”, then suggesting that I jump in and give it a try instead of observing. That’s why I was checking it out to begin with. I knew I wanted a little push before I came up with some self imposed obstacle (aka excuse) not to go for it.

Thanks again,

Flory

Wish List For 2011

Posted by admin | Posted in Uncategorized, Workouts | Posted on 02-01-2011-05-2008

Now that 2011 is finally here, I decided to compose a list of a few things or a “wish list” that you should look into to make this year the healthiest year of your life.  Enjoy

1. Reebok Zigtech: If you are a member of my bootcamp, then you already know about these sneakers.  By far my favorite type of sneakers to train in, these shoes are lightweight, flexible and give you lots of cushioning for those long runs or workouts at the gym.  Their awesome sole features a unique zig pattern that not only looks cool but gives you a boost when you walk or run.  Oh, and they come in awesome colors too!  You can find these shoes at most stores including finish line and footlocker.

2. lululemon athletica:  By far the best workout clothes I have ever work, lululemon was originally started to cater to the yoga crowd. However, over the past few years their clothing line has extended to not only yoga apparel, but also running and workout gear as well.  Their clothing are unbelievably comfortable and lasts forever.  Their mens line continues to grow and although the clothing isn’t cheap by any means, in my opinion it is worth the money.

3. Inov8 Shoes:  That’s right, there are two types of shoes on this list.  While the Reebok Zigs offer great support and cushioning, the Inov8′s do the opposite and do it on purpose.  Their shoes are designed under the minimalist approach, meaning they are designed to allow the muscles in your foot to do more of the support while reducing the chances of knee and ankle pain.  Used by crossfitters everywhere, they’ll soon become a mainstream shoe.

4. The 4 Hour Body:  If you are a guy and looking to get into great shape, then you need to read this book.  Written by Tim Ferriss, author of the 4 Hour Work Week, this book is all about getting an unfair advantage to getting in great shape.  Want to lose weight after eating 4400 calorie meal? Want to gain 34lbs of muscle in 28 days? Want a better sex life?  This book has everything you need to get in the best shape of your life. Buy this book at Barnes and Noble or Amazon.com and start the year off right.

5. The Paleo Diet:  Written by Dr. Loren Cordain, this book is all about getting back to cavemen roots when it comes to our diet.  This diet is the official diet of Crossfit and for good reason. Eat meat and vegetables and you’ll see results, pretty simple.

6. Concept 2:  This rowing machine is for those serious about getting a workout.  Designed to work both the upper and lower body, this workout is exactly what you need to get in shape.  You can buy these at concept2.com or just come to my bootcamp :)

7. Anything Apple:  After converting all of my computers over to Mac, I am now a huge believer. Their products are so easy to use and it makes life so much easier.  From their Ipod to their Ipad, you won’t go wrong with any of their products.  My favorite product has to be the Ipad, not only can you check email or surf the web, but you can read books, look at constellations, learn how to play the piano, draw, and thousands of other countless things!  I am always one to simplify my life, and Apple makes it easy for me to do that.

8. TNT Bootcamp:  When it comes to a wishlist for 2011, the list wouldn’t be complete without talking about TNT Bootcamp.  I have been a trainer for over 4 years now and I have seen lots of workout programs.  It may sound a bit biased coming from me, but I have to say that TNT Bootcamp is by far the most cutting edge program that you will find.  From the workout equipment to the trainers, this bootcamp rocks.  And what better way to get in shape than to join bootcamp.  Get in shape and have fun doing it, you won’t be dissapointed. What are you waiting for?

How to be a Rockstar

Posted by admin | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 15-10-2010-05-2008

0

Do you know what it’s like to be a Rockstar?  I do. Ok let’s face it, I’m not actually a rockstar but I certainly feel like one!

I can honestly say that I am one of the most blessed people I know and I thank God everyday for it.  I am 24 years young, I am incredibly good looking (haha) and I am one of the most in-shape people I know. I own my own personal training business where I get to work for myself and make my own decisions in life. I don’t have to answer to anyone and the only limit to my success is me and no one else.  Not only do I own a business, but I work in the fitness field which I think is the best and most rewarding field one could ever be in.

Not only is my success limitless in this field, but I am able to help people and make a HUGE difference in a person’s life.  Everyday that I work with one of my personal training clients or bootcamp members, I am making their life better. I am able to literally transform their body and increase their self esteem so much so that their friends don’t even recognize them and I’m also able to help them out with their problems and be a shoulder for them to lean on.

While most of the people I know are stuck working 9-5 Monday-Friday, I am able to work in the morning and then during the day I workout, play golf, or even take a nap.

You might be thinking, “wow that’s great Robby, but how does this all apply to me?”  Well, my point is that I made it a goal of mine to live the life that I have now.  And you can too! Even if you make a few adjustments to your lifestyle, you’ll be living the life of a rockstar in no time.

Here are some “Rockstar” secrets that you can easily apply to your life….

1. Don’t take life to seriously: Sure we all have problems in life, some bigger than others.  And of course when an issue arises, we stress out and that is the only thing on our mind.  Instead of stressing and worrying, do something about it!  If you have a problem, stop worrying about the problem and starting thinking about the solution!  And since stress is directly related to ever disease known to man, why would you even think about being stressed!  Always be “solution minded”.

2. Have NO FEAR!: We all have or have had something that we don’t like to do. For me it was going to business and talking to people I don’t know.  I was literally afraid to do it! However, I got over it! What’s the worse that can happen? They say no! Remember, fear is False Evidence Appearing Real.  Overcome your fear and know that most things you worry about don’t even happen. Think about how much more you’ll accomplish!

3. Do good and Forgetaboutit: One of my favorite clients always tells me this (except in Italian), and he is right!  Instead of always trying to get things from people to accomplish your dreams….do the opposite! I always ask other people that I know, whether it is people in business or just friends what I can do to help them accomplish their dreams.  Give and it will come back to you!  The most successful people I know are also the most unselfish.

4. Be physically fit: You knew this was coming. As a trainer and former “skinny kid”, I cannot tell you how much fitness and exercise has made a difference in my own life as well as my client’s life.  When you start to look good and feel confident about the way you look, it is amazing how your outlook on life changes.  And not only will you start to look good, but this confidence is going to spill out into every other aspect of your life.  Trust me…I’m living proof :)

5. Be Mentally Fit: In addition to staying in shape, you also need to work your mind.  Read books on how to improve yourself, on how to grow financially and spiritually. Read books on relationships and on how to pick up a hobby. Read books on things that you think you already know how to do.  Learning about everything is important, even if you think you know it already.  And when your done learning, apply it!

7. Associate with the right people: Do you want to be successful? It’s easy, hang out with successful people.  Want to have a better marriage? Simple, just hang out with couple who have a successful marriage. Want to be in better shape? Well…spend time with people who are in shape.  At the end of the day, you become who you associate with.  If you want to be in great shape, it’s going to be awfully hard when your friends and family around you are eating unhealthy and not working out.  It may be tough, but if you really want something you may have to cut out the “time vampires” and “success suckers” in your life.

8. Be Confident: Confidence is the key to everything you do in life.  Even if your doing something you don’t know how to do, be confident.  People are attracted to confident people.  If you are confident in yourself, there is no limit to your success.

If you apply these steps into your life, you will be amazed with how your life will change. In no time you will be living the Rockstar life.

Why I Dislike (almost all) Personal Trainers..and how to choose the right one.

Posted by admin | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 17-05-2010-05-2008

0

I’ve been a personal trainer for just under 5 years now.  At the ripe old age of 23 (almost 24) I have spent more time in the gym setting than most people will spend in their lifetime.  I’m very confident when I say that I’ve seen practically every type of trainer, whether it be in the gym or in an athletic training setting. And I’ve come to the conclusion that I really don’t like Personal Trainers.

Ok, let me be a little bit more specific.  I dislike the vast majority of trainers…but it’s with good reason!  As a lifelong fitness enthusiast myself, I’ve graduated with an Exercise and Sports Science degree, I’m a certified personal trainer and also a business owner.  Above all I strive to give my clients the very best in fitness and training.  Nothing frusterates me more than seeing a trainer who does not put their clients needs first.

Here are some things to look for first if your considering getting a personal trainer or joining a bootcamp.  If you follow these guidelines, you will be much happier with your trainer and you’ll actually see guaranteed results (which most trainers can’t deliever!)

1. Ask to see their credentials: I cannot tell you how many times I’ve been in a gym and seen trainers who after talking with them, find out that they got their certification from a website or by doing a 4 week course. Or even worse, aren’t certified or failed the test!  Just because the person looks fit, doesn’t mean they know how to get you fit.

2. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover…sometimes: I’ve seen over and over again people at the gym picking a trainer based solely on looks.  Of course it is important for the trainer to be in shape (they should practice what they preach), but it is also fatimportant to find out if they know how to get you in shape.  Look and see if the other clients are seeing results, and don’t be afraid to ask.  On the flip side, if a trainer is out of shape or has a beer belly/smokes on their break…probably best to steer clear.

3. One size does not fit all: One of my biggest pet peeves is how trainers almost always train people according to how they train and not based on the clients needs.  That’s great that you think your a professional MMA (mixed martial arts) fighter, but just because you train like one does not mean your client wants or needs to train like that too.  Make sure the trainer meets you where your at, listens to your feedback. That’s when you know you have a winner.

4.  Personality is Important: A trainer may have everything going for them..a rock hard body, lots of clients and the credentials to match.  However, when you talk to this trainer, if you feel like going to sleep or by the end of the conversation you feel upset or not energized, you should probably look elsewhere.  As a client, you want to look forward to going training with your trainer.  If the trainer tells you all their problems or your personalities don’t gel, you need to find a trainer that will fit better. Trust me, you’ll be spending a lot of time with them…might as well enjoy it!

Stay Fit,

Robby

Can You Afford Not Too?

Posted by admin | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 14-11-2009-05-2008

Ask any personal trainer or fitness professional, when it comes to running a fitness business the number one objection that comes from people is cost.  Everyone is looking for that rock bottom deal which most trainers cannot afford to offer.

In a world where you can now sign up to a gym such as Planet Fitness, which offers membership for as low as $10 a month, it makes it very difficult to convince a person why they should invest hundreds of dollars into personal training.  I mean after all, doesn’t just joining a gym automatically give you results right? NOT!

As a personal trainer myself, I have run into these objections many times.  Everyone is looking to see amazing results for less than they pay for coffee in a two week span.  Crazy!

Sure you hear about all the basic things that trainers claim to offer, such as weight lose and muscle tone.  But what about the real things that we deal with every day. So here is a list of the benefits you are GUARANTEED to see that you don’t even think about  when you sign up for personal training or with bootcamp (at least when you work with me.)  Why do I guarantee it…because each and every one of these things I’ve hear from the clients I’ve worked with.  Do you think its worth it?

  • No more back pain so you can pick up your kids                          fatheranddaughter
  • Never lose your breath when you walk up the stairs
  • You actually look GOOD in a bathing suit
  • You now have to wear a belt to hold up your favorite jeans
  • You sex life is MUCH Better
  • You sleep better
  • You are no longer depressed
  • You have CONFIDENCE in yourself
  • Golf scores are lower!
  • Have to get a new wardrobe!
  • Girls/Guys actually pay attention to you
  • You can do 10 pushups…not girly ones either
  • The wedding dress had to be taken in
  • Your pregnancy had no complications

Just imagine for a second that you are approached by a well respected, well known person.  This person is known for his abilities to turn an impossible situation into something that you’ve always wanted.  This person appraoches you and tells you that he has a method that will make you lose as much weight as you want…no matter of its 10 pounds or 100 pounds.  This man also goes on to tell you that he will not only make you lose the weight and keep it off, but will change the way you think about yourself, improve your confidence, heck even improve EVERY aspect of your life so much so that people would not even recognize you.  How much do you think that would be worth?

Remember, nearly everyone has no problem paying for their cable bill, phone bill, regardless of how much it cost or how much the price increases. Isn’t it time we stopped for a moment and think about our health and how much that is worth to us.  If not for our health, we would be unable to enjoy the luxuries of life.

Actually when its put that way, when you think about all that a great personal trainer can do for you…it’s a bargain.
